AFF 4-H members are reminded to wear their AFF 4-H T-Shirts to school on Wednesday of this week.

AFF October Meeting Reminder

The October meeting will be a wiener roast held October 7 at 6:00 pm at Schramm's.

This is a family event so bring your family, lawn chairs, roasting wires/sticks and a side dish (your choice) to share. All other items will be furnished.

The Woodbury County annual dues for participation is $20 per member so please bring a check made out to Woodbury County Extension to this meeting. At the meeting we will also be updating medical release forms to be kept on file so if any information has changed since last year, please bring it.

We look forward to seeing you there!

AFF Starts off New Year

The Arlington Future Farmers 4-H Club started the new year with election of officers. Officers for the new year will be President Shawn Jensen, Vice-President Carter Swanger, Secretary-Reporter Shelby Perez, and Treasurer Dylan Bechen. Jared Schramm, Drew Schramm and Shawn Jensen will represent the club on the Woodbury County Recognition Team.

Welcome to our new members, Bryce and Brady Butters, Michelle Putze and Matthew B Nelson!

Congratulations to State Fair and County Fair winners. Congratulations to Jared Schramm for being awarded the State 4-H Beef Project Award at Iowa State University on August 25.

The next meeting will be held October 7, 2007 at 6:00 at the Schramm's with a wiener roast to follow. Bring lawn chairs and a side dish. All other supplies are furnished. Drew and Jared Schramm will be doing demonstrations and Schramm's, Bechen's, and Jensen's will host and provide recreation.

Arlington Future Farmers Start New Year

Congratulations on a great county and state fair!

Members are reminded to write Thank You notes to trophy sponsors and bonus
auction bidders.

Weeding at the frontage road and taking off dead blossoms is still needed.

Our reorganization meeting will be September 9th at 7:00 at City Hall.
Let Carolyn know before the meeting if you would like to be a club officer for the coming year.

Upcoming Due Dates & Events!

Each member is expected to sell Woodbury County Fair Season Passes. Carolyn will be contacting you to arrange getting them to you. AFF Members will receive their Exhibitor's Tickets from Carolyn when they return the ticket packets(with money and/or unsold tickets) in to her on July 30th 10:45-11:00 a.m. in the 4-H building.

Their are two new publications on preparing vegetables for exhibit and preparing flowers for exhibit – https://www.extension.iastate.edu/store/

Those publications will be on the top of those pages and you can print your own.

Due July 31 at Fair during Animal Entry: Iowa 4-H Affidavit and Statement and Disclosure & Treatment forms for Beef, Horse, Lamb, Meat Goat and/or Swine must be filled out and brought to fair on Tuesday Livestock/Animal Entry Night – this information was in the February 4-H Scene on the front page. We have forms available at the Extension Office or you can go on-line at: http://www.extension.iastate.edu/4H/Agriculture/livestockhandbook.htm
Superintendents will also have forms with them on Tuesday of Fair, but 4-H’ers must bring a record of any treatment on their animals because the form does ask for that information.
